Your provincial government have programs to help you with your renovations in order to increase the energy performance of your home. By increasing the energy performance of your windows and doors, you will reduce your energy loss and your energy bill. You will save on your high energy performance products purchases and your energy consumption.

The ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes will end March 31, 2012. Eligible homeowners may be eligible for grants of up to $5,000 to improve the energy efficiency of their home.

You are eligible for a grant if you own a single-family home, detached residential building, semi-detached home, or multi-family building with a maximum of three floors.

Get Your Grant

  1. Register each property as a “new participant” or “past participant” as defined in the Eligible homeowners and properties section below in orger to receive a registration number.
  2. If your property has not had an energy evaluation since April 2007, you must hire a local service organization licensed by NRCan in order to have an energy advisor to your home. The advisor will perform a complete pre-retrofit energy évaluation. About two weeks later, you will receive a homeowner report and an EnerGuide rating label.
  3. Choose eligible energy efficient upgrades for your home according to the program’s Grant Table. Make sure to keep all your receipts for 3 years. Take photos of work that is difficult to verify (such as insulation of walls)
  4. Finally, contact your service organization to schedule an appointment for a post-retrofit evaluation. Important : you must complete all renovations, obtain a post-retrofit evaluation and sign an Application Form no later than March 31, 2012. NRCan processes the application and, under normal circumstances, most homeowners receive a cheque within 90 days following the date of the post-retrofit evaluation.
